Expanded Sigma 90mm f2.8 DG DN I Contemporary Lens Key Features:
Advanced Optics
Despite its size, this lens is packed with an advanced optical structure that is capable of producing truly photographs that are full of rich colour and detail. Not only this, but the lens can capture images that feature edge to edge sharpness, all of which is achieved with an intricate alignment of 11 elements, arranged into 10 groups. Within these groups, Sigma has used 5 Special Low Dispersion glass elements (SLD) that are specifically designed to reduce the appearance of chromatic aberrations. This is complemented by a single additional Aspherical lens element that is used to produce sharper images, especially at wider apertures, as well as minimising other optical imperfections, too.
Versatility
The 90mm mid-telephoto focal length is perfect for portraiture. This prime focal length, combined with the wide and flexible 9 rounded diaphragm, f2.8 to f22 aperture range makes for enhanced control of depth of field and results in some beautiful bokeh, as well as offering exceptional low-light performance. Adding to its versatility is a 50cm minimum focusing distance that allows you to get creative with your framing, offering the chance to capture unique perspectives that engage with your audience. Finally, this lens features impressively fast and quiet autofocus performance that not only is more enjoyable to use but it offers more discretion, where the sound of a turbulent AF mechanism would sully an otherwise quiet environment.
Build Quality
As with all Sigma brand lenses, you can expect exceptional build quality at a reasonable price range. The Sigma 90mm f2.8 DG DN I Contemporary lens offers that same quality with the addition of the fact that is impressively compact and lightweight. In fact, it has been specifically designed for mirrorless systems and feels well-balanced with its all-metal construction with precision-cut aluminium parts that give the barrel a sleek, high-end finish as well as increasing durability and its tactile feel. It’s this combination of its advanced optical structure, high-end construction and this extreme portability that highlights one of the key benefits of mirrorless cameras systems over their larger, heavier and less portably DSLR counterparts.
